Acolyte Training

We have had a lot of changes lately! Let’s get on the same page! Fr. Desmond will return on October 12th an hold an acolyte training for about 15 minutes after the 10:30 service. If you are an acolyte, please make sure you can be here. If you cannot, please let Samantha know in the office, so we can follow up with you.

This Community Event is appreciated by our local community and has been inquired about over the past few months. The plan is simple, sell the spaces, provide the disposal of unwanted items, serve cold bottled water and breakfast tacos. We will need a variety of help, from underwriters, to advertising, to taco making, to set up, to directions and management the day of.

We need all hands on deck to make this a successful endeavor.

All Saints Candle Lighting

On November 2nd, All Saint’s Sunday, we will be honoring those who have passed in the last year with a lighted candle near the altar. We are including all members of the parish whose services were held here, but if there is someone special you wish to honor, please email their name to the office by Tuesday, October 28th, so we may include them.

Trunk or Treat

Thank you so much for your participation at last year’s Trunk or Treat event. We love to hold this tradition at our school every year, and we hope you would like to host a trunk this year on October 24th at 6pm. Please sign up to host a trunk and continue this wonderful way to connect with our school community. We hope to see you there! Please contact Javi at jfuentes@aeshouston.org if you have any questions.

If you would like to help, but are unable to host a trunk, please donate any of the following individually packaged items: juice boxes, Goldfish, chips, Cookies, fruit snacks, Stickers, Bubbles, Trinkets, applesauce, and allergy-friendly candy.

Harvest Thanksgiving

This November 16th will be our Harvest Thanksgiving Celebration. Somewhat in the nature of the First Fruits Celebration, there will be special music and the bring of gifts to the Altar. We will have invitations ready this Sunday for you to hand out or mail to your family and friends. We would really love to see the church full of your loved ones on this very special Sunday. Following the service, we will gather in the Parish Hall to enjoy a potluck meal together. Please bring a family favorite to share with your church community.

Many of you take wonderful pictures of Ascension life. As we move forward in building a profile, we would like to share all the things, special and everyday that we do here at Ascension. Please send any pictures you take of church life to: photos@ascensionepiscopalchurch.org.

It is great to have them all in one place!!

Tuesday Evening Bible Study

The Friday night viewing of “The Chosen” has been cancelled. However, they are watching it individually and coming together on Tuesdays to discuss it. Please join them. If you need to know where and when to watch it, stop in, either in person or via Zoom!

We need Live Streamers

The Stream team is desperate for members. If you can operate a smart phone you can operate the streaming software. We will absolutely show you how it works. Please let Samantha (in the office) or John Searle know that you are interested.
