Parking Lot resurfaced!

Many of you will notice the newly resurfaced and restriped parking lot when you come to church on Sunday. Thank you to our vestry for seeking the diocesan grant and making this wonderful update to our quickly aging parking lot.

(Pictures coming soon.)

Last Sunday to submit names for the All Saints Candle lighting

On November 3rd, All Saint’s Sunday, we will be honoring those who have passed in the last year with a lighted candle near the altar. We are including all members of the parish whose services were held here, but if there is someone special you wish to honor, please email their name to the office by Tuesday, October 29th, so we may include them.

Do you have $17? Do you grocery shop?

WHAM is hosting their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive; they provide the turkey, we provide the sides!! Starting today, you can pick up a labeled paper bag with the requested items and fill it up!! Let us give thanks for our blessings by sharing with those in need. Please return it on or before Sunday, November 17, where the bags will be placed at the altar and lifted in God’s name in thanksgiving of Ascension’s generous spirit. If you would like to “purchase” a bag and someone else can do the shopping for you, please drop your check in the plate with “WHAM bag” on the memo line, or you may use the online giving link, just indicate in the message how many bags you would like to donate.

Salvation Army Christmas

“Forgotten Senior” Program

The bags will be ready for pick-up next Sunday, Nov 3! Bags will need to be returned by Sunday, Nov. 26th, so they may be placed at the Altar for blessing. The Salvation Army has a very well organized procedure for this wonderful program. The tags have gift suggestions but good common sense comes in handy. There are no limits of how many or how few gifts you place in the bags. ($75 is a good rough estimate per bag, though some big ticket items can cost more. ) After the Angel “tags” are picked up, the gifts purchased and returned to Ascension, they will be picked up by the Salvation Army and distributed to the neediest of “Forgotten Seniors.”

Definition  “Forgotten Senior” is a person who is over 62 years old, meets the federal minimum poverty guidelines and is not registered with the Salvation Army with any program. They have fallen thru the cracks and in many cases have no advocates. That is the reason for the term “Forgotten Seniors.”

Please give this wonderful program your support to help others who have not been as blessed, - Julie Collins

Let’s continue the success of this program!

Online Directory

The Online directory has been launched! You should have received an email from Realm with the heading: “Ascension Episcopal Church: Join our online community!” If you did not, please see Samantha in the office. After you set up your account you will be able to view the directory, monitor your giving, print statements, and make corrections to your contact info. You must have an account to view the directory; this ensures all information is protected.

At anytime if you decide that you do not want to be listed in the online directory, you may either adjust the privacy settings from your account or you may contact the office in writing (either drop a note, or send an email to office@ascensionepiscopalchurch.org).

Sunday School Help

As we head into another year of youth Sunday School,

we'd love to get more teachers and assistants on board!

We have a truly great group of kids, and our curriculum makes

it easy to guide lessons - even if you aren't a Bible expert! Teachers and assistants just need to complete a quick certification course through the diocese. We're glad to work around your schedule! If interested, contact Allison Garcia at 956.220.2615 or allisonmiles411@gmail.com. You can also contact the church office. Thank you!

Don’t forget the flowers!

Sign up to donate flowers each Sunday! Just indicate on the flower chart, posted in the narthex and enter your dedication in the book below it. You may drop your donation in the alms basin or send it to the office, marked flower fund. The cost is $100, including delivery. For any questions, email office@ascensionepiscopalchurch.org.
