Loudoun County’s Intersection Improvement Program (IIP) addresses traffic safety and operational challenges on roadways within the county. It also identifies cost-effective solutions to enhance safety for all motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.

Before the IIP program was established, intersection improvement projects were often initiated on an ad-hoc basis in reaction to traffic safety and operational concerns, and were sometimes delayed until funds became available. 

Loudoun County is relocating services offered at the Shenandoah Office Building located at 102 Heritage Way NE in Leesburg to accommodate space planning requirements as the county undertakes renovations across several facilities, including the Shenandoah Office Building.

• Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, and Foster Care and Adoption Services: 
• The last day of in-person service in the Shenandoah Office Building will be Wednesday, August 19, 2026. 
• The first day of in-person service at 1501 Edwards Ferry Road, Suite 301, will be Thursday, August 20, 2026.
• Public Assistance / Public Benefits (SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, Child Care, Energy Assistance, EBT Issuance), Community Support Services, General Inquiries: 
• The last day of in-person service in the Shenandoah Office Building will be Friday, September 11, 2026. 
• The first day of in-person service at 1501 Edwards Ferry Road, Suite 301, will be Thursday, August 20, 2026. 

All phone numbers, email addresses and hours of operation will remain unchanged. 

Starting July 1, 2026, applications for commercial demolition permits in Loudoun County must include dust mitigation information. In addition, all commercial and residential demolition permit applications must include information about notifications to adjacent property owners. The Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code allows localities to request dust mitigation information from permit applicants.  

Loudoun County has again received national recognition for organizational excellence in public procurement. The Loudoun County Division of Procurement has earned the 2026 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute. Loudoun is one of only 54 county governments in the United States to receive the award this year.

Loudoun County announces the acquisition of a 90.56-acre, heavily forested property along the Potomac River that will be preserved as passive parkland and provide new opportunities for residents and visitors to experience Loudoun County’s natural landscapes and riverfront.

Overview

• This project provides for the design, right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation, and construction to extend the existing merge lane along eastbound Route 7 from the Loudoun County Parkway entrance ramp to the Route 28 exit ramp to provide four continuous lanes between the two interchanges.
• Funding sources include local tax funding, general obligation bonds and cash proffers.



The Loudoun County Department of Housing and Community Development will continue to offer free educational sessions about fair housing law in August and September. A series of “lunch-and-learn” sessions will focus on how fair housing law protects different population groups from discrimination, while Fair Housing School courses will provide a comprehensive overview of fair housing law at the state and federal level. Anyone involved in housing as a current or potential renter, buyer, financial adviser, realtor, property manager or builder is encouraged to attend.

Loudoun County invites local nonprofit organizations to attend an informational/feedback session on changes designed to improve the county’s Human Services Nonprofit Grant Program. The meeting will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2026, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., at the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties, 714 E. Market Street, Leesburg. The session will include a presentation on the Fiscal Year 2028 changes and an opportunity for those in attendance to provide comments. 

The Loudoun County Department of Housing and Community Development invites residents to provide comments on the Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) (PDF). The public comment period will be open through Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The CAPER details how federal funds have been used for programs that address a variety of housing, public service and community development needs. The report covers the performance of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) programs within the county from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.



The CAPER must be submitted to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development by September 28, 2026.
