 studentaccess
This partnership between Appalachian Regional Library and Ashe, Watauga, and Wilkes County Schools gives all students access to physical and digital library resources regardless of their status as library cardholders. StudentAccess accounts permit students and school faculty members to use NC Live resources and check out up to ten books and audiobooks at a time. We hope this partnership will improve students' quality and equity of access to high-quality resources for research, homework assistance, and more! This project is supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the State Library of North Carolina.

involving-books
The Fall 2017 series of Involving Books focuses on Understanding War and Crossing Cultural Boundaries. From October through December, we look forward to collaborating with local groups and community members to offer programs and displays that honor our veterans and engage us in meaningful dialogue and action! In October, pick up a Read.Share.Return copy of North Carolina author Sarah Shaber's Louise's Lies. This mystery novel
features young widow Louise Pearlie, a government girl who works for the Office of Strategic Services, the United States' first spy agency. Shaber will visit Ashe County the last weekend of October for two awesome events.

NC Bookwatch Online Book Club

NC Bookwatch, hosted by D.G. Martin, airs on UNC-TV on Sundays at noon and again on Thursdays at 5 pm. Many North Carolinians (including your friendly librarians!) enjoy Martin's in-depth interviews with local authors, and we thought you'd enjoy discussing featured titles from the program in a laid-back, online format. Like and follow our new ARL Online Bookwatch Club Facebook page to learn more about upcoming titles and offer comments!
