Gov. Edwards, Please Apologize!

Misinformation Abounds at the Capitol

Hi Benjamin,

We just got back from the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in downtown New Orleans to watch the monumental debate over the FDA's shoddy approval of the abortion pill. See below for our thoughts on that case.

Last week, after we were successful in stopping bills to legalize abortion in cases of rape and incest, Gov. Edwards issued a statement dubbing a child conceived in rape as a "rapist's baby." We see Gov. Edwards' terminology as part of the continual dehumanization of those children conceived in rape.

Heather Hobbs, a rape survivor, requested an apology, saying, "Governor Edwards, your continual use of that term is disrespectful to me, my child, all the survivors of sexual assault who are mothers, and those persons who were conceived in rape." I also sent a letter to Governor Edwards on Friday asking for his apology.

Please join us in asking Gov. Edwards to apologize for using this dehumanizing language!

Gov. Edwards Please Apologize

Yesterday at the Capitol, I was astonished as legislators continued to misrepresent Louisiana's laws on abortion. Rep. Mary Dubuisson from Slidell stated in committee that Louisiana's pro-life laws mean that "women carrying dead babies will be forced to carry them to term even at risk of their personal health." Nothing could be further from the truth!!

Louisiana law contains clear provisions that allow a doctor to help a woman facing a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, medical emergency, and more. Check out our www.PostRoeFacts.com site for clear references to Louisiana law!

In that same hearing, we were able to help legislators stop two bills that were vague and unnecessary (HB 598 and HB 461). An amendment filed by Rep. Dubuisson made it clear that her legislation, if passed, would have legalized elective abortion up to 23 weeks gestation. We were able to catch this potential change through our vigilance at the State Capitol. This is a great example as to why we must remain diligent at the Capitol to protect life!

5th Circuit Hears Biggest Abortion Case Since Dobbs

Interview outside 5th Circuit with our Communications Director Sarah Zagorski

Today, the New Orleans based 5th Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments on the largest abortion-case since the Dobb's decision in 2022. It focuses on a lawsuit from the Alliance of Hippocratic Medicine against the FDA for their widespread approval of the abortion-inducing drug Mifepristone. Chemical abortion accounts for the majority of abortions that occur nationwide each year.

From the hearing, it was evident that the FDA equates pregnancy to disease and expedited the approval process with little consideration for women's health. They should be held accountable! We are hopeful that the decision will be favorable, but there are numerous legal issues involved, so it is a tough case to predict. We expect a decision in the next few weeks from the 5th Circuit.

On April 29th, we hosted the Northshore PULSE Immersion at St. Scholastica Academy. We had 13 students, from Slidell to Hammond who were excited to join us at Northshore PULSE and expand their pro-life knowledge.
