Yes, you heard it right, Kal Penn will be joining us LIVE! It will not be a recorded video as many are asking us, and a few lucky ones can even get a chance to ask Kal Penn a question!

He will discuss his book, a national bestseller, 'You Can't Be Serious' at the event this Saturday. In his book, Kal narrates moving accounts of racism in Hollywood and the entertainment industry. Tasveer works to tackle the issue of racism against South Asian Artists, through its storytelling platforms.

The 20th Celebration Gala promises to be a fun-filled, star-studded, interactive live event! Mira Nair (on video) will introduce Kal Penn. Stand-up comic Sonal Aggarwal will entertain us as the emcee throughout the event. Buy your Gala tickets before March 19. A premium ticket includes a signed copy of 'You Can't Be Serious.'

Tasveer is delighted to present our Annual Report for 2021! We hope our supporters and community members enjoy reading and reflecting on Tasveer's work in 2021. We thank you for your unending support that made our work possible amidst the peaks of pandemic.

We'd like to take a moment to reflect on all the effort and innovation by the Tasveer team and community over the past year. Despite the challenges the pandemic posed, we are honored to have created and held inclusive virtual spaces that kept our community engaged and inspired through difficult times.

We are excited for upcoming programs in 2022 that will continue to strengthen and amplify South Asian voices.

Tasveer Open Mic, fondly called TOM, provides an inclusive space for South Asian community of artists from across North America and beyond. It will now start an hour earlier 6 PM PST to accommodate our participants from different time zones. Please do join us and share your talent and support other artists.

TOM takes place virtually every 4th Saturday of the month 6 PM PST. Next one is on

Tasveer is excited to co-present the second annual Essay and Art Contest on Civil and Human Rights. The theme for this year’s contest is: Intersections Between Caste Discrimination and Anti-Black Racism.

South Asian American students in grades 6-12 are invited to participate and reflect on the intersections between caste discrimination and anti-Black racism.

Deadline: 12 pm EST on Wednesday, March 30th, 2022

Prize: $1,000 for winners, $500 and $250 for runner-ups
