March's Tip
Connect with Students in the Discovery Layer
Many students start their research via the discovery layer and when AskAway is available here, they can easily turn to assistance and instruction.

The chat box can be embedded in EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), Summon service, and Primo.

An embedded chat box is the preferred entry point as it's an open invitation to chat directly at point of need. The chat box should be fully visible and set to be opened (i.e. not hidden behind a collapsed menu). The title should indicate what the chat box is for, e.g. Research Help.

See a screenshot of the chat box in the results list (EDS).

In some discovery layers (e.g. EDS), you have the option to include a tab. Tabs and buttons add steps to the process of getting help but unlike chat boxes they do remain visible to the user as they scroll through a list of results and when they click to chat, a new window that they can easily resize pops-up.

See a screenshot of the chat tab in EDS results.
Testing and Support

Take a moment to test new entry points – do they display and work as expected when the service is both online and offline?
