Asking Questions
Happy June – I hope this finds you well. As with April and May, what a time this is. I am hopeful that these crises make our nation and us better, not divide us more.
What can we learn from this time in history and how do we get better – better at caring for others, better for caring for yourself? That question has been gnawing at me. I have been considering it in terms of the KEA team and our customers. How do we sincerely better care for others?
I believe it starts by asking questions. Sincere, hard questions that we may not like the answers to, but that are crucial to understanding how we get better. Questions for our customers (yours as well as KEA customers) such as “let’s talk about what your business is really all about and what is crucial to you for success” or “what problems keep you up at night and how can I help you with them” or “how can we be more aligned with you to help you succeed.” These are questions that can be asked of team members as well. Being sincere and humble with these questions, listening – really listening – to the answers and asking more questions will help us to identify concerns and opportunities and build relationships. The relationship is core to understanding how to care.
