Making the neighborhood you want to live in!
Note From Your AGCL President
It occurred to me that we haven’t done a “note from the President” for a long time, so I thought it’s about time we got back on track. Let me introduce myself; my name is Terri Tityk, and I am your current AGCL President. I took over this role on an interim basis in September 2021, and signed on for an additional 2-year term in March 2022 at our League’s AGM. My husband and I moved to this community in 2013 and I have been an active board member in this League for over 4 years. While the jump to the President role has been a steep learning curve, and sometimes an exercise in just keeping my head above water, I feel I am now settling into steady ‘treading’ pace, and I am keeping the shoreline in sight! Well, at least most of the time..... :)

We all know that the past 2 years of pandemic life has taken it’s toll on everyone, and touched all aspects of our day-to-day lives. Our League has seen a lot of turnover on the Board in the past 12 months, but I feel we have been able to re-assemble a great team of neighbours who are excited to get involved and get back to community engagement! While all of our primary
Board Positions are filled, we always welcome help from volunteers who want to get involved in a lesser capacity, and if you are one of those people, please keep an eye on our emails or social media pages for opportunities to help us out - it is always greatly appreciated and it’s a great way to get a feel for what this League is about - connecting with neighbours and creating a space for all to be included.

We are excited about our remaining events in 2022 and are hoping to make Harvest Fest our first big event as pandemic life recedes some. Please note on your calendars: Sunday, September 18th - it’s going to be some fun! Part of the afternoons activities will include an update on our Building Project. Yes, we are continuing to move forward with plans that we hope will see us create a functional and inviting space for all the community to enjoy. That being said, we have had to re-assess our circumstances, and due to several factors, make adjustments. Unfortunately the building expansion that we had hoped for has become unattainable in the foreseeable future. However, in collaboration with Little Aspen Playschool, we will pursue an extensive renovation that will see the creation of a shared space that will meet the needs of the League, the Playschool and the community at large. We are excited that this opportunity remains possible for us. We will have up to date information available at Harvest Fest, and will continue to share information in future newsletters.

In short, there is lots to be excited about in our neighbourhood! We are a community full of warm and welcoming people, and we look forward to being able to gather with you all again; to reconnect with those of you who may not have been in our “pandemic bubble”, and to meet those of you new to the ‘hood in the past 2 years. Have a great summer everyone, and I hope to see you all on a beautiful, sunny afternoon in September!
