We know many of you, like us, are missing your swims, workouts, and classes at Asphalt Green. Your health and safety are our first priority, and as we look toward reopening, we have been working hard to reimagine Asphalt Green with social distancing measures in place. We want to share our thinking, give a preview of what you can expect, and provide an opportunity for you to weigh in.

Both Asphalt Green locations will operate very differently when we reopen. The following are some of the safety measures that will be implemented:

  • New cleaning and disinfection protocols will be put in place throughout the facility, including new technologies that specifically target coronaviruses.
  • Face coverings will be required in heavily trafficked areas, and member-facing staff will be wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Foot traffic will be directed to allow for social distancing. Floor markings and signage will help direct members where to walk and wait in line.
  • Our fitness floors will be reconfigured to allow people to exercise while social distancing. This may temporarily reduce the number of cardio machines available. Floor markings will delineate individual workout spaces for weight training, and we will no longer allow members to share equipment in between weight sets.
  • Class sizes in all areas of the organization will be reduced, and the policy will be strictly enforced.
  • In the pool, per-lane maximum swimmer limits will be established and strictly enforced.
  • Locker room and shower access will be significantly reduced or eliminated.
  • We will be asking all members to arrive immediately before and exit the facility promptly after their class or workout; common area seating will be removed.

We know that some of these measures will cause inconvenience and understand that this a new way of operating for everyone. Our ability to reopen and stay open safely will depend on our ability to cooperate as individuals for the good of our community.
