DAISY Award Winner - Robin VanHandel

Congratulations to Robin VanHandel for being chosen as the most recent winner of the Aspirus Wausau Hospital DAISY Award.

Robin was nominated by the parents of a daughter staying in the MSICU.

The parents said Robin showed much care and dedication, especially when she assisted them in removing sap, tree debris and tangles from their hair.

They went on to say Robin was so organized and showed attentiveness and dedication throughout their daughter's stay.

The AWH DAISY Award recognizes the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. These nurses exceed the needs and expectations of patients and families by displaying our core values: Compassion, Accountability, Collaboration, Foresight and Joy.

Student Nurse Internship Graduation

24 student nurse interns graduated August 19 from their internship at AWH.

Aspirus had a total of 39 student nurse interns across its system.

The interns participated in multiple departments across the system ranging from the ICU to the NICU.

Up next, students will finish up the last part of their respective nursing schools and then join the nurse workforce.

80 percent of graduates are staying within the Aspirus system.

Morgan Schaefer, one of the student nurse interns, talked with WAOW about the program.
