Minocqua Dragon Boat Volunteers Needed

Are you interested in being a volunteer during the Minocqua Dragon Boat Festival but not as a paddler? Here's your chance! The event, including practice sessions and registration, takes place August 18-20 at Torpy Park in Minocqua.


There are volunteer opportunities available over the three days that apply to several different parts of the festival.

Available volunteer opportunities:

  • Dock Assistance – Practices (Thursday 4-8 p.m. 4 slots, Friday 7 slots)
  • Dock Assistance – Race Day (8 a.m.-12 p.m. 2 slots, 12-4 p.m. 7 slots)
  • Dock Assistance – Race Day Coverage (no one signed up)
  • Entertainment Help (no one signed up)
  • Race Chaser Boat Referee (8 a.m.-12 p.m. 2 slots, 12-4 p.m. 1 slot)
  • Race Safety Boat (12-4 p.m. 3 slots)
  • Race Starter Boat (7 a.m.-3 p.m. 2 slots, no one signed up)
  • Registration Helper (4-6 p.m. 1 slot, no one signed up)
  • Registration Host – Friday (1-5 p.m., 2 slots, no one is signed up)
  • Registration Race Results (8 a.m.-12 p.m. 2 slots, 12-4 p.m. 3 slots)
  • Site Bathroom (9 a.m.-12 p.m. 1 slot, 12-2 p.m. 2 slots, 2-5 p.m. 2 slots)
  • Site (ALL, NONE HAVE BEEN FILLED)
  • Volunteers Ambassador (12-3 p.m. 1 slot)
  • Volunteers Concierge (11 a.m.-3 p.m. 1 slot, 3-6 p.m. 1 slot)

Howard Young Medical Center Job Fair


Aspirus Talent Delivery hosted a job fair at Howard Young Medical Center on July 28. Events were also hosted at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital. Leaders from several departments met face-to-face with career seekers.

HYMC Gift Shop Sale


The Howard Young Medical Center gift shop is hosting a 30%-off-everything summer sale from August 2-31 (excluding candy, cards and books).


Gift Shop Hours: Tuesday - Thursday from 12-4 p.m.

ATH Foundation Donates Bike Helmets


This year, the Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital Foundation donated 255 bike helmets to members of the Tomahawk community. Elementary students in need received 171, another 18 helmets were fitted and given away at the Tomahawk Community Bike Rodeo and 66 were donated to the Tomahawk Middle School/Tomahawk High School PE Bike Program.


The Foundation spent $2,507 to keep our kids riding safely this summer and during the school year. 

Free Financial Planning Sessions on Aug. 30 at HYMC


As an Aspirus employee, Personal Money Advice Sessions are offered to you at no cost. These sales-free, objective and independent financial planning sessions are for you and your financial well-being. The next session is Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Howard Young Medical Center. COVID Community Transition Report: Week of 8.08.22

Employees are reminded our COVID-19 attestation, testing, return-to-work and patient care processes have not changed. 


In patient care areas, masks are still required and those used must be provided by Aspirus. They cannot be brought from home and eye protection is still required with every patient encounter. 


Face shields are still the preferred form of eye protection for all patient encounters. However, the foam-lined glasses are now an option for COVID-negative and non-COVID suspect (PUI) patients. These glasses have been approved at the system level.


If you develop symptoms, do not come to work. You need to complete the online attestation and schedule a test through MyAspirus. If your test results are negative, you can return to work.


If you test positive, Aspirus Employee Health & Wellness (EHW) will direct your return to work.


You must wear a mask at work after being COVID-positive until it has been 10 days since your positive test or the start of your symptoms.
