2023-24 Influenza and COVID-19 Safety Programs

Flu Shot Shield

Aspirus Health will have two mandatory programs this year to help protect team members and medical staff members from respiratory illness. We are continuing our annual employee Influenza Safety Program for the 2023-2024 flu season, and this will be the first year for our seasonal COVID-19 Safety Program since the Public Health Emergency ended in the spring.

Our goal is to have as many team members as possible vaccinated against both influenza and COVID-19. Vaccination increases your chances of preventing illness, minimizing symptoms, and remaining available for our patients and each other. (Employee Health Influenza & COVID-19 Safety Program intranet page)

Participation in both programs is mandatory for all Aspirus employees and medical staff members. Full program details can be found in the Mandatory Influenza & COVID-19 Vaccination Compliance Policy. Program participation is required by October 31, 2023. For both influenza and COVID-19, participation means either getting vaccinated or completing an electronic declination. Non-compliant employees will be removed from their work schedule and subject to disciplinary action that could include voluntary resignation.

Vaccination clinics are being offered through Aspirus Employee Health & Wellness and vary by location. Our earlier clinics will likely only feature the influenza vaccine until Aspirus receives our supply of the new COVID-19 vaccines in late September or early October. Vaccination clinic offerings may be adjusted accordingly based on supply and demand.

Passion for Excellence. Compassion for People.

Because We Love

Every day, we show compassion for our patients, their loved ones, and one another. Below are a few recent examples from our intranet's Recognition Wall for Aspirus Stanley Hospital. Recognize a co-worker or view more staff recognitions.

Compassion

Rachel Green, Medical Receptionist, Aspirus Stanley Clinic

Thank you for the compassion and quick action you took recently with our patient that had a STEMI. Your quick action and recognizing that something was very wrong with the patient changed the overall outcome of the success he had. Thank you for caring.

Accountability

Rich Conrath, Pharmacist

Thank you for always being on top of ASH medications. I appreciate the attention to detail you have, especially regarding our flu vaccines for patients and making sure we have everything we need and the protocols are working properly.

Collaboration

Alzada Oemig, Rehab Team Lead

Thank you so much for helping me set up my Epic short cuts. They have been a lifesaver and have really helped me with my documentation. I don't feel so bogged down.

Foresight

Natalie Hazuga, RN, Emergency Department

I recognize Natalie for her great work in the ER. She is consistent, inventive and calm. She directs the situation with grace and works great with others to provide the best outcome in a hurried and unexpected situation. If it's a problem, she will figure it out. Thank you, Natalie.

Joy

Emily Doro, RN, Med/Surg

Thank you for supporting our new team members as they join our team to learn ASH and best practices. You are a skillful mentor and excellent nurse with a compassionate bedside manner. Always a joy when you are working.
