Passion for excellence. Compassion for people.

Every day, we show compassion for our patients, their loved ones, and one another. Below are a few recent examples from our intranet's Recognition Wall. To recognize a co-worker or view more staff recognitions, click here.

Taylor Modrzewski, Nurse Technician II, Med Surg/ICU, Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital

You brought so much joy to one of the patients on the med/surg unit when you shaved him in the morning. He really enjoyed talking with you about farming. Thank you for always going above and beyond and providing excellent care to the patients.

Alexis Galindo, Resident Assistant, Aspirus Tivoli Community

Alexis ~ Thank you for handling the situation, being calm, and following through to make sure a resident was taken care of and comfortable. You are an amazing caregiver, and we are grateful you are part of our team at Tivoli Assisted Living.

Tristian Maki, Team Lead of Imaging, Aspirus Riverview Hospital

Tristan was awesome, staying very late after the end of his shift while working with a challenging ICU patient both performing the scan and aiding staff in the transport and return to the room. On behalf of the ICU staff, thank you for your collaboration.

Sarah Ladin, Speech Therapist, Therapy, Aspirus Divine Savior Wellness Center

Sarah showed amazing compassion and collaboration this past week by helping out with a complex video swallow study. She reviewed the study with me and provided invaluable feedback to ensure the best possible patient care. I appreciate your help and kindness so much! Thank you!

Virginia Reichert, Nutrition & Food Services Assistant, Nutritional Services, Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital

Virginia showed compassion to an elderly couple who wanted coffee after the cafeteria was closed. Even though it was after her shift ended and she was leaving for the day, she still turned around and got the couple coffee from the kitchen. Excellent customer service, Virginia.

Miranda Lepak, Surgical Technologist, Surgery, Aspirus Plover Hospital

Miranda ~ Thanks for coming in early to sterilize items for a new procedure. We appreciate your time and flexibility to make sure we have the items we need for surgery.

Because We Love

Aspirus Plover Clinic Walk-In

All of the staff I interacted with were wonderful. If I were to ever have to use the walk-in again, I would hope that I would have them as my providers.

Lindsay Maves, Physician Assistant, Aspirus Nekoosa Clinic

I saw Lindsay Maves, and as usual she was sweet, caring, and listened to my questions. She was also nice enough to fit me in.

Dr. Susan Kreckman, Family Medicine, Aspirus Portage Clinic

I love this clinic. I am always treated with respect and feel the staff really cares. Dr. Kreckman and the staff always listen carefully to me and work with me to improve my well-being. I couldn't ask for more from a provider.

Aspirus Stevens Point Clinic-Hoover Road

The people and the care I receive at Hoover is fantastic! Thank you to all the wonderful people who work there!

Julie Hennes, Nurse Practitioner, Aspirus Amherst Clinic

A great provider who cares about her patients’ welfare. She goes the extra mile to give you the best care.

Dr. Sean MacKenzie, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Aspirus Divine Savior Wellness Center

From start to finish meaning the scheduler, checking in, the staff taking vitals, to the doc first-class treatment and very comfortable moving forward with an uncomfortable condition. I couldn't have asked for a better provider. Doc listened to me, knew how to address my situation, and walked me through the process in a manner that gave me 100% confidence in what will be the process moving forward.

Dr. Robert Cornwell, Internal Medicine, Aspirus Doctors Clinic

He is attentive to my needs. He actively listens to what I have to say. He explains everything, and that helps me understand my follow-up care. I don't feel rushed or hurried at my appointment. He treats me like a person and not a number. I feel comfortable seeing him and confident he genuinely cares about his patients.

Patient Safety Tip

Glucometer Cleaning

Why: Cleaning and disinfecting of glucometers after each use is required to prevent bloodborne pathogen infections.

Content: Regulatory bodies such as The Joint Commission, CMS and CAP require that glucometers be cleaned/disinfected and the cleaning is documented. Aspirus business units have received citations for visible dried blood on glucometers and employees being unable to tell a surveyor the cleaning process for the glucometer.

Call to Action: Clean glucometers after each and every use with a Super SaniCloth germicidal wipe. Document the cleaning per your business unit process. Many glucometers have a way to document the cleaning via the glucometer.

Volunteer Opportunity to Serve Our Neighbors

Aspirus is pleased to help our neighbors in need by sponsoring the February 15 FOCUS Neighborhood Meal. Volunteers are needed from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Opportunities include plating and clean-up (4), table servers (12), dessert table workers (2), and beverage table workers (2).

Every Thursday evening, FOCUS serves about 120 people at the Sparhawk Trucking Building, 2321 W. Grand Avenue in Wisconsin Rapids. For those facing hunger or loneliness, FOCUS provides a freshly cooked meal in a safe, friendly environment.

To volunteer, please email Maggie Muleski, our FOCUS Neighborhood Meal coordinator, at mjmuleski@gmail.com, by February 8. Please provide Maggie with your name and volunteer position preference.

Friends and family ages 14+ are invited to volunteer with you. (Minors must have a parent/guardian with them or bring a signed permission slip. Just let Maggie know if you need a permission slip.)

Our Aspirus crews had a great time serving FOCUS Neighborhood Meals last March and August.
