Because we love, we lead.

Every day, we show compassion for our patients, their loved ones, and one another. Below are a few recent examples from our intranet's Recognition Wall. To recognize a co-worker or view more staff recognitions, click here.

Rhonda Bravick, Aspirus Riverview Dental Clinic

Rhonda always treats all patients with the highest standard of compassion. We see a lot of children and disabled patients, and it warms my heart to see and hear Rhonda on how she speaks and treats the patients with kind and caring words. Rhonda is the reason our patients leave with a smile. :)

Hayley Patoka, Foundatoin, Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital

Thank you for all of your hard work with the rolling out of the Child Life Specialist role in our pre-op area. We are lucky to have you and have had very good feedback from patients and families!

Allyssa Rosenau Peterson, Emergency, Aspirus Plover Hospital

Allyssa ~ I wanted to send you a note and tell you how much I loved working that night shift with you. Thank you for doing ALL the side work! LOL! You are a joy to work with, and I love having you on our ED team. Thank you for working at the bedside! You are a wonderful nurse!

Amber Garner, Quality Services, Aspirus Southeast Division

Amber ~ Really, really, really great job facilitating the urology scope meeting. I am super impressed with your collaboration with the clinic staff from ARH and ASP, your attitude/professionalism, and also your hard work doing surveillance on all of the patients. You were very detailed!

Josh High, Food Services, Aspirus Riverview Hospital

I want to recognize Josh for the JOY he brings to the department. His laugh is infectious, and he has a positive attitude, even in times of stress. He brings a fun camaraderie to the department; and when he's not here, we notice. Thank you!

Amanda Walloch, Quality Services, Aspirus Southeast Division

Amanda ~ Kudos for your weekly regulatory patient safety tips. The tips prove to be very helpful and are much appreciated.

What Our Patients are Saying

Some Comments from Recent NRC Patient Satisfaction Surveys

Because We Love

Dr. Shelley Szymkowiak-Raczek, Podiatry, Aspirus Stevens Point Clinic-Illinois Avenue

This provider is a very caring lady. She made me feel so at ease and really took the time to explain everything so I understood. I am currently staying about an hour away from this location, but would drive back in a second to have my appointments with Shelley. She is an asset to this line of work. Thank you for caring!

Outpatient Surgery Team, Aspirus Riverview Hospital

I'm new to the area and have not gotten even the slightest amount of health care and compassion as I've had in the past with Aspirus. Every nurse, doctor, etc. was so absolutely wonderful. Their staff and whole environment proves how health care should be. I can't be more thankful for what they have done for me and continue to do for me. Hands down, the best experiences with them.

Dr. Andrew Weiss, OB/GYN, Aspirus Stevens Point Clinic-Illinois Avenue

Dr. Weiss was outstanding. He made my first experience being pregnant great. He was calm, understanding, and never made me feel inadequate or uncomfortable. He listened to me and my partner's concerns and reiterated the safety of my baby to us multiple times. He is hands down, the greatest OB I've seen!

Dr. Trina Daniels & Emergency Team, Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital

The ER staff that took care of us was absolutely incredible!! I cannot say enough about the nurses and Dr. Trina Daniels. I will never forget their kindness to me and my family during the scariest time of our lives. We will be forever grateful for them.

Aspirus Cancer Care-Wisconsin Rapids Team

The entire staff at the oncology clinic has been amazing. From front desk to lab to infusion nurses and everyone in between. They have made this experience not as scary and a lot more comfortable.

Patient Safety Tip

Blocking Fire Extinguishers, Pull Stations, Medical Gas Valves

Why: Blocking access to fire extinguishers, pull stations, medical gas valves, or other features of fire protection may delay or prevent rapid response in an emergency condition.

Leadership can assist in enforcement by supporting education activities for staff identifying the importance of clear access.

Call to Action: Remove any and all obstructions preventing access to fire extinguishers, pull stations, and medical gas valves.

Thank You, School Supply Donors!

Thank you to everyone who was able to contribute school supplies for our Project Fresh Start donation drive at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital.

The collection shown here is just a small portion of the supplies we received, requiring several drop-off runs since our drive began.

Your donations will help many area students start school with the supplies they need to succeed!

Shonda Engelbright Honored for Good Catch

Congratulations to Shonda Engelbright, Registered Nurse with Aspirus Doctors Clinic, and winner of our Aspirus Riverview Good Catch Award for June. Shonda caught a potentially dangerous documentation error:

A patient was in for a pre-op history and physical exam for an upcoming procedure that required holding his warfarin (blood thinner) for five days and bridging with Lovenex. His weight was entered as 559 lbs, 4.8 oz (253.7 kg), and the patient actually weighed 155 lbs (70.5 kg). The patient's weight was entered without subtracting his wheelchair, causing a potentially lethal dose of the blood thinner Lovenox. Sonda contacted the medical assistant for the provider, as well as the supervisor to report and correct the patient's weight. The patient was also called to get his proper weight verified.

The Good Catch Award is based upon a commitment to High-Reliability Principles for Safety to bring awareness to situations when an employee's or physician's actions prevented harm to those we care for.
