Kristine Mejia, Administration, Aspirus Riverview Hospital
When Kristine escorted a patient to her car, she noticed the car windows were covered with snow. She got her snowbrush and cleared the windows so the patient and her driver had a safe drive home. Kristine went above and beyond to care for the patient's needs inside and outside of the hospital!

Safety Tip
Shipping Containers
| |
What: Items received from outside of the organization and transported to department storage areas within the facility should be removed from their external shipping containers before the items are placed in the storage areas of the department. (Any instructions for use that accompany the items should be kept with the items.) For example: If you get supplies of any kind inside a corrugated cardboard shipping box, the supplies should be removed from the corrugated cardboard shipping box before placing in your storage area. The shipping box should be properly recycled according to your business unit's recycling process.
Why: Shipping containers, especially those made of a corrugated material, serve as generators of and reservoirs for dust. Corrugated cardboard boxes are susceptible to moisture, water, vermin and bacteria during warehouse or storeroom storage, as well as in transportation environments. Boxes and containers may have been exposed to unknown and potentially high microbial contamination.
