Lisa Lewis Receives Aspirus Iron River Sunflower Award
Congratulations to Lisa Lewis, Radiology Secretary, who was chosen as the most recent winner of the Aspirus Iron River Sunflower Award.
The Sunflower Award is a recognition program at Aspirus Health specifically for support staff who demonstrate compassion, accountability, collaboration, foresight and joy in patient care. Support staff may be nominated by co-workers, patients and families.
Lisa was nominated by a leader who said, “Prior to coming to Aspirus Iron River as the manager, I had heard what a great person Lisa was when it came to scheduling patients when needed, pushing images, or answering Imaging questions from my previous staff. Everything they said was true and that is only half of what I have the pleasure of witnessing on a daily basis. Lisa goes above and beyond every day, always willing to help, always with a smile in her voice on the phone. She works to make our daily lives better by identifying and correcting any problems that may arise. I am so thankful to have Lisa's expertise and experience when I came to Aspirus a year ago. She exemplifies the Aspirus values every day in every way. I appreciate all she does for our patients and staff. I am thankful she is part of the Aspirus team.”
The Sunflower Award allows a way to recognize support staff for the extraordinary care they deliver every day.
Please congratulate Lisa when you see her!

Sanna Wuebben Receives Aspirus Keweenaw Sunflower Award
Congratulations to Sanna Wuebben, Patient Care Administrative Team Lead, who was chosen as the most recent winner of the Aspirus Keweenaw Sunflower Award.
The Sunflower Award is a recognition program at Aspirus Health specifically for support staff who demonstrate compassion, accountability, collaboration, foresight and joy in patient care. Support staff may be nominated by co-workers, patients and families.
Sanna was nominated by a leader who said, "Since joining our team, Sanna has consistently played a crucial role. She demonstrates this in a variety of ways daily, from proactively seeking insurance authorizations to coordinating scheduling of patients with multiple therapists to specifically asking staff if there is anything she can help them with. She always does this with an upbeat personality. With recent transitions in EPIC scheduling, she took it upon herself to work through each patient and make appropriate adjustments to their prior scheduled appointments to ensure flawless issues in the future. This was upwards of 30-40 patients per day, all of which she did without mention to staff or signs of frustration. Once issues were worked out, she was able to build a Quick Tips sheet for the process which was used to educate all staff in appropriate and efficient scheduling. In addition to her daily work duties, she demonstrates compassion to staff by regularly reaching out to see how their days are going or families are doing to allowing fitness center staff to call her on the weekends with questions or issues. She demonstrates joy to patients by consistently engaging in genuine conversation and serving as their go-to point of contact for therapy. Sanna is a vital asset to our department, and we truly believe we wouldn't be able to provide the level of care we do without her."
The Sunflower Award allows a way to recognize support staff for the extraordinary care they deliver every day.
Please congratulate Sanna when you see her!

Dr. Shepich is the first doctor I feel has actually listened to me in more than 2 decades. She can actually look me in the eye while we are talking. She is very much appreciated.

John Friedli, PA-C
I was very satisfied with my visit. Mr. Friedli was courteous, professional, listened to my concerns, and provided a logical plan to move forward with my care.

|
Richard Raffaelli, PA-C
He was a very good provider and we really enjoyed talking with him. I could understand what he said, and I feel 100% better since I came to visit him. He was great.

Why does a patient’s perception of being listened to matter? According to The CG CAHPS Handbook (Studer Group), “It is only through actively listening to the patient that providers can build relationships, which allow them to individualize care to achieve the best outcomes.”
HOW ABOUT YOU? Do you ALWAYS listen carefully to those you interact with, patients, co-workers and family members? Are you sometimes distracted or interrupted because you are in a hurry? Pay attention to see how your active listening skills are impacting your relationships and your ability to provide the best care and service possible.
Congratulations to our Star Performers for Provider Listen!

Aspirus Iron River
Congratulations on a successful COLA survey! Thank you for all your hard work preparing for the survey the past 2 years. The lab has gone through a lot the past 2 years with Beaker, new instruments, COVID, being short staffed – but you all worked together to provide high quality care for patients.

Myra had a wonderful idea to save the walk-in nurses time. After checking it out with a department manager, it was agreed that her idea will be totally acceptable and very beneficial to the busy walk-in staff.
