In the August 16 edition of the UP Region newsletter, we shared that our Leadership team (supervisors, managers, directors, VPs) are proactively and purposefully ROUNDING with our patients.
In the last 30 days, our leaders across the UP have logged 114 patient rounding encounters!
Congratulations to our leaders who are committing to this effort. You are living our value of Accountability.
And thanks to all the staff members who are helping our leaders make these meaningful patient connections!
A reminder about WHY they are doing this:
- To understand our patients’ experiences and capture their stories.
- To make extra personal connections with some of the hundreds of people who walk through our doors every day.
- To reinforce to patients that we care about them; we know patients feel less anxious and more engaged when they feel seen and heard.
- We know that if we can address concerns or dissatisfiers in the moment, we spend less time trying to “fix” problems later.
- One of the best things about rounding with patients is that we hear more reasons to celebrate YOU every day! Patients are telling our leaders, in the moment, how much you do for them!
We even ask this question to patients who take our HCAHPS survey (the survey patients get when they are discharged from an inpatient stay): Were you visited by a member of the hospital leadership (supervisor or manager) during your stay? Yes/No
Keep up the great work, UP Aspirus TEAM!!
