Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce that Sarah Badding has been appointed as our new Assistant Director of Education and Development. Sarah holds a Ph.D. in Education and Organizational Development from CSU. Sarah joins us from the Nancy Richardson Design Center, where she has served as Assistant Director since the program’s launch six years ago, leading the development of educational programming, expanding offerings, and diversifying revenue streams. Since April 2023, she has also served as Education Lead for the CSU Climate Initiative, leading the development and launch of CSU’s first climate change certificate and minor. She brings extensive experience in leadership, organizational management, fundraising, and mentoring, along with deep knowledge of CSU’s processes. We look forward to Sarah’s leadership in advancing SoGES’ educational mission.

“For SoGES and the Climate Initiative, expanding and innovating our educational offerings is a top priority. Sarah’s expertise will make her an outstanding leader, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the team,” said Director Courtney Schultz.

With her appointment, SoGES has put in place its new program leadership structure. Aleta Rudeen Weller, who has long been at the heart of SoGES’ efforts to spark creative approaches to sustainability research, leadership, and engagement, is now serving as our Assistant Director of Research and Engagement. Aleta will continue to lead our collaborative research programs, build partnerships across campus and beyond, and guide our strategy for growing new interdisciplinary research. With a background in communication, facilitation, conflict management, and natural resources, Aleta brings both research and real-world experience to connecting science and practice.

Please join us in warmly congratulating Sarah and Aleta on their new roles!
