Dear Families,

I continue to be inspired by our students and staff each and every day. I would like to share a “student spotlight” from MBMS.  Here is Sebastian’s Perspective published in the MBMS Waves Today. I truly enjoyed learning about Sebastian’s experiences in school and all of the amazing interests he pursues outside of school. A huge thank you to Sebastian for sharing his story.

One way we can spotlight our staff members is through the 2021 8th Annual CAC Awards. Please consider nominating an individual who has made a difference in the education of your child. You can submit this nomination form now through Friday, March 19, 2021.  I encourage you to read some of the accolades our MBUSD 2020 Recipients received in 2020. Your nomination, especially now, would mean a great deal to our staff.

I am also writing to update you on our High Needs Hybrid cohorts. Currently, students are unable to participate in two in-person cohorts and/or stable groups (per County guidance). Since many of our elementary students are now attending their general education class in-person, they are receiving special education services through distance learning.  I know we are all waiting for the guidance to change so that students can receive in-person instruction from both their general and special education teachers/staff. I hope that this changes soon! Additionally, our Special Day Class team is beginning to plan for increasing in-person learning time. More information to follow soon.

If your child attends MCHS, please consider accepting an invitation to participate in the Case Carrier Cohort. While we expect additional general education opportunities to expand, attending this cohort will afford students the opportunity to connect with their special education teacher and with other students. Here is the Invite Form so you can RSVP.

Our next SEAC meeting is scheduled for March 16th. Please read the  SEAC Meeting Flyer  for additional information. In preparation for the meeting, please complete the Behavior Topics Survey to help our BCBAs tailor the session based on student needs and parent interests. The BCBA team will keep the survey open until Tuesday, March 9th.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
