Maritime Association News |
At the most recent Maritime Association of the Port of New York and New Jersey Board of Directors meeting, a new Government Relations committee was proposed and unanimously adopted by the Board.
MAPONYNJ has traditionally advocated at the local, state and federal levels to promote port-related matters. Forming a committee to look at overarching regulatory matters affecting the port and its stakeholders is a natural evolution of the mission of MAPONYNJ.
This committee will comprise members of the Association to develop a unified voice in policy, legislation and funding in New York, New Jersey and Washington, DC.
This committee will address and advocate for infrastructure updates to accommodate volume and maintain efficiency, providing a more reliable service. Successfully adapting to the constantly changing transportation and logistics environment is crucial and the committee must engage all the concerned parties, both public or private.
We are excited to revamp this function of the Association and welcome input from our members. If you would like to get involved or bring a matter to MAPONYNJ's attention please reach out to us at info@nymaritime.org .

New York Ruling Deals Latest Blow to US Offshore Wind Industry |
Recently, the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) considered a proposal to implement inflation adjustments for renewable energy projects, which would provide the necessary financial stability to ensure these projects move forward.
On Thursday, October 12th, the Commissioners issued their decision to deny the financial relief sought by developers.
NYSERDA, as the administrator of the Clean Energy Standard, will assess impacts on the contracted portfolio and, with input from the Department of Public Service and the renewable energy industry, proceed expeditiously with an accelerated procurement process that prioritizes competition, simplifies bid requirements, incorporates inflation indexing, and applies critical labor protections, all while coordinating with transmission planning initiatives.
As a result, a 10-Point Action Plan has been released by NYSERDA, offering insight into the Governor's administration's plans to overcome macroeconomic challenges impacting the renewable energy sector.
