Staten Island Ferry Fire: Training was Key
The rescue of almost 900 passengers and crew from the Staten Island Ferry’s Sandy Ground after an engine room fire Dec. 22, 2022, demonstrated again how quickly the New York Harbor maritime community responds in emergencies.

NJEDA advises a Notice to Lease Property at the New Jersey Wind Port has been uploaded to NJEDA’s website. Scroll down to the section NOTICE FOR LEASE OF PROPERTY AT THE NEW JERSEY WIND PORT.
All questions concerning the Notice must be submitted via e-mail to njwindport@njeda.gov by no later than 11:59 PM U.S. Eastern Time, February 12, 2024.
All non-binding offers must be received by 3:00 PM U.S. Eastern Time, March 1, 2024. Further details on the submission process are included in Exhibit A of the Notice.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announces the availability of the draft programmatic environmental impact statement (PEIS) to analyze the potential impacts of wind energy development in six lease areas of the New York (NY) Bight. The PEIS also identifies possible changes in those impacts that could result from adopting certain avoidance, minimization, mitigation, and monitoring (AMMM) measures (the Proposed Action). This notice of availability (NOA) announces the start of the public review and comment period and the dates and times for public meetings on the draft PEIS.
Comments are due by February 26, 2024.

The Coast Guard announced in the Federal Register that they are updating the user fees for seagoing towing vessels 300 gross tons or more and revising user fees for other inspected towing vessels.
This final rule is effective March 27, 2024.
