On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, leaders from across the industry met at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City to induct 5 new members into the Maritime Hall of Fame. The Maritime Association of the Port of NY & NJ is the proud host of the awards dinner since 1993. The Awards dinner has traditionally honored an impressive list of individuals within the global maritime and transportation industry. The maritime industry has met the demand of an unprecedented boom and has adapted skillfully to meet the ever-changing evolution of commerce, safety, security, and sustainability. The recipients inducted this year were recognized for their leadership and commitment to advancing the industry throughout their careers.

This year's honorees recognized:

• Griff Lynch, Executive Director, Georgia Ports Authority

• Brian Buckley McAllister, President, McAllister Towing

• Jeremy Nixon, Chief Executive Officer, Ocean Network Express Pte. Ltd

• Semiramis Paliou, Director and Chief Executive Officer, Diana Shipping Inc. & Chairperson, Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (“HELMEPA”)

• Bill Shea, Chief Executive Officer, DCLI

Nearly 500 attendees came out to support and congratulate the honorees for joining an extensive list of industry leaders that have already been inducted into the Maritime Hall of Fame.

Biden-Harris Administration Opens Applications for First Year of $400M Competitive Grant Program to Reduce Truck Air Pollution at America’s Ports

US Customs and Border Protection is now accepting applications to operate Centralized Examination Stations (CES) for the Port of New York/Newark area. The initial phase of the process will consist of a 60-day application period, or "open season." Public comments regarding whether a new CES should be established or whether there is still a need for a CES are also invited and are due thirty (30) days from the issuance of this notice.

An application has been received by the Commander, First Coast Guard District from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) for a U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Bridge Permit for approval to replace the New Jersey Route 35 Bridge fender system in the Borough of Red Bank and the Township of Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey, 8.3 miles above the mouth of the Navesink River waterway.
