THE NEST
Dear Assumption Family,
Today we celebrate the Nativity of Mary, the birthday of the Blessed Mother and the patron of Assumption Catholic School. I am reminded of just how important and yet underappreciated mothers are. We count on them to provide and care for us and often take it for granted that they will always be there when we need them. What do they get in return? I know moms will say they don't need anything and they do it out of pure love, just like Mary did for Jesus. As our mothers model their undying love for their children after Mary's devotion to Jesus we must show our love and appreciation as Jesus taught us.
My request to our students is that in addition to Mother's Day and birthdays, we add September 8 to the short list of days to show our special appreciation for their mothers. If your mother is anything like mine- a simple note, a call, or spending a little extra time is all it will take to demonstrate your love and appreciation.
Happy birthday to the Blessed Virgin Mary and happy Nativity of Mary to all mothers in the Assumption Community.
