NEWS
FROM
THE NEST
Dear Assumption Family,
Next Sunday we will welcome an accreditation team from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). NEASC is a regional organization that sanctions public, private, and independent schools from pre-kindergarten through graduate programs. NEASC creates a set of standards for all areas of education that upholds a high quality education of all accredited institutions. Over the past years our faculty has been working on a Self Study Report. Through this process we take a detailed look at our current program and how it meets the standards outlined by NEASC. That process was completed at the end of September and the report was submitted and accepted by the NEASC Commission of Independent Schools. I thank everyone that participated in this process, especially our Self Study Co-Chairs Kathy Andrade and Deirdre Loreng as well as School Advisory Board Member, Dr. Bill Fitzgerald.
The second phase of this process calls for a team of educators from other accredited schools to visit our campus, interview stakeholders, and look for evidence to corroborate our Self Study Report. The Visiting Committee Team will be at Assumption from October 27 to October 30. We will start with a welcome reception and tour on Sunday evening at the school. The committee will then be present at school all day Monday and Tuesday. If you happen to see them at drop off or pick up feel free to say hello and welcome them to our community. They may ask you some questions or talk to our students during the day. Feel free to talk with them and encourage your children to be honest and polite while interacting with our visitors.
Within one month of the visit the team will send us a report of their findings. This report will be shared with our community at large and serve as a starting point for future strategic planning to continue the growth and improvement of Assumption Catholic School. This is a very exciting time for us and we look forward to sharing our love for our school and showing off for the NEASC Visiting Committee.
Many blessings,
Steven J. Santoli
