Ms. Susan Phillips, Principal

Week of February 9, 2026

It looks like warmer days are ahead! We will get back in the routine of going outside for recess each day! Please make sure students are prepared for this!

Acadience Benchmark Parent Reports for Math and ELA, similar to what was given out at conferences, will be printed and sent home some time this week. This report will show how students did at the beginning of the year and now, at the middle of the year, on this one assessment. All students in grades K - 5 took the Acadience Benchmark for math and reading in January.

Technology Tip

Would You Rather Text or Hang Out?

From Common Sense Media’s Carpool Conversations Podcast

Research shows that being with people in person has benefits for our well-being. Digital messages make it easy to stay connected, but they can’t always replace face-to-face time. Tone, body language, and shared experiences matter—and being together in person can help kids feel more understood and supported. It also helps them to develop interpersonal skills. Talking about when it’s better to text and when it’s better to talk in person helps children make thoughtful choices about how they connect with others.

Action Step:  CARPOOL CONVERSATIONS Podcast:

Listen to this 1½ minute episode together during your drive and chat about different situations—sharing big feelings, solving a disagreement, or celebrating good news. Ask kids how each situation might feel over text versus in person, and why.

LIM/PBIS Update: The Leader in Me habit we are focusing on this month is Think Win Win. We teach our students they don’t have to be the best or get their way every time. Instead, sometimes they should find a way for everyone to be happy. They can listen, share, and work together so everyone feels good about choices made.

We had the latest round of superstar winners last week - several students were able to chose a prize for being safe, responsible, and respectful.

Nurse Corner

Smile Program: The mobile dentist will be at Northley Middle School on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Below is the link to register. Students who are registered will be bused to Northley and back to Aston. Time is TBD, so it is suggested that students pack a lunch that day if possible. If not, we will be sure they get to eat if they miss their assigned lunch time.
