Ms. Susan Phillips, Principal

Week of January 12, 2026

It is the second full week of January and it is like we never left for break! Students have gotten back into the school routine very nicely and all are hard at work! Reminder Friday is an early dismissal for students and Monday is a holiday.

Technology Tip By Vivienne Cameron

Tech Tip from our Technology teacher, Ms. Cameron

Using Technology with Purpose

Not all screen time is the same. Purposeful tech use means choosing activities that help us learn, create, or connect—rather than scrolling out of boredom. Encourage kids to ask themselves, “Why am I using this right now?” This builds self-awareness and helps them develop healthy digital habits that last.

Action step: Ask your child to name one app or website they use for learning or creativity and one they use just for fun. Talk about how to balance both. Encourage them to spend 10 minutes on IXL to practice math facts or Keyboarding Without Tears in between games.

Leader in Me/PBIS Updates:

Students were very safe, responsible, and respectful the first week back!

While we continue to put first things first in our Leader in Me curriculum, we also are focusing on the word Acheive. This is very appropriate while we are in the middle of our winter benchmarking!

Nurse Corner

Smile Program: The mobile dentist will be at Northley Middle School on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Below is the link to register. Students who are registered will be bused to Northley and back to Aston. Time is TBD, so it is suggested that students pack a lunch that day if possible. If not, we will be sure they get to eat if they miss their assigned lunch time.

Thank You, Mrs. Kelly!

After more than 25 years of dedicated service to Aston Elementary School, paraprofessional Joan Kelly took a final walk through the halls on her last day as an Aston Alligator. Students and staff lined the hallways to give Mrs. Kelly a well-deserved “clap out,” celebrating her many years of care, support, and commitment to our school community.
