Ms. Susan Phillips, Principal

Week of January 5, 2026

Happy New Year! May 2026 be a great year for everyone! We hope all Aston families had a nice, long, restful break, and our students are ready to return to the daily routine of school!

January begins middle of the year assessments. We will be testing students this week and next in both math and reading to determine specific areas of need as well as strengths for all. We use this information to design instruction to match student needs.

Starting Fresh with Screen Time Routines

After winter break, kids may be used to extra screen time and relaxed rules. January is a great time to reset healthy tech habits. Consistent routines help children focus better, sleep more soundly, and feel less overwhelmed. Talk about when screens are helpful (learning, creativity) and when it’s time to unplug. Clear expectations make transitions easier for everyone.

Action step: As a family, choose one screen-time rule to reset this week, such as no screens during meals or turning devices off an hour before bedtime.

Leader in Me/PBIS Updates:
We continue to "Put First Things First" in our leader in me curriculum and in life. Teaching students to priortize is a life skill that will come in handy as they grow and mature.

We will be revisiting the PBIS behavior expectations with students this week - after the long break, a reminder is a good thing!

We are so proud of our mural! Be sure to see it the next time you are at Aston!

Nurse Corner

Smile Program: The mobile dentist will be at Northley Middle School on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Below is the link to register. Students who are registered will be bused to Northley and back to Aston. Time is TBD, so it is suggested that students pack a lunch that day if possible. If not, we will be sure they get to eat if they miss their assigned lunch time.
