Ms. Susan Phillips, Principal

Week of September 2, 2024

Welcome to the 2024-25 School year! We are so excited for the first day of school on Tuesday, September 3! Please read carefully as there is a lot of important information below.

First Day Information

The school day runs from 8:50 AM - 3:25 PM. We will open the gym doors for buses and car riders at 8:35 AM and again at 3:25 PM. Parents may not enter the gym during arrival or dismissal.

Kindergarten Parents - September 3 Only:

Students and their parents/guardians in Kindergarten are invited to come to the playground on the first day of school to greet the teacher and see your children off. Kindergarten teachers will be outside at 8:35 AM. Parents will not be permitted to enter the building once students go inside. If your kindergarten student will take the bus that morning, we will make sure they get to the playground to meet their class and teacher. On day 2 of school, all students will report to the gym for arrival. Parking will be challenging on day one so please pack your patience.

Buses

Students in grades K - 5 are assigned a bus and we encourage all students to ride the bus. The car line can get very long and crowded. Bus assignments were mailed out and there is bus information on the Penn-Delco web page under the transportation tab. Please expect the buses to be a little later than the assigned time for the first week or two of school, on the way to and from school. Buses always have the right of way while in the bus loop. Unfortunately, we do not have enough driveways to have a seperate car and bus entrance and exit. Upon entering, cars go to the right and buses to the left. Everyone will exit through the far driveway on Tryens. Please be careful! We will be there to direct traffic.

Car Line

All students who are driven to school must ride through the car line for drop off and pick up. The car line starts at the first driveway on Tryens Rd. There will be cones as well as staff members to guide families through the car line. The car line loops around the parking lot and leads to the side of the building. There will be several staff members present each morning to help your children get in and out of the car and guide the students to the gym and then to their classrooms. We try to empty 4 - 5 cars at a time along the wall of the school. Please be sure your children are able to get themselves in and out of the car as it will save a lot of time. The students will bring a sign home printed on card stock with their last name to be used for pick up after the first day. Display this in your passenger side window or on windshield. Again, please pack your patience as our car line tends to get very long, especially on the first few days of school.

Food Services

Menus were sent home in the end of summer mailing and are available on the website under food services. We will have breakfast available for all every day but early dismissal days and several lunch options in the cafeteria. Our breakfast program is free for all and it is grab and go. Students are also welcome to pack their lunch.

6 Day Special/Related Arts Schedule

This year we are adding a Guidance class to the student’s weekly special/ related arts rotation to further enhance their educational experience. This course will be taught by a school counselor and teach life skills alongside academics including leadership, responsibility, accountability, problem solving, and adaptability.

All students will attend 6 areas of related arts (special) classes including Music, Art, PE (2 times),Technology, and Guidance. In order to fit this in, a 6 day cycle is required to run the Related Arts schedule. Only Related Arts classes will run on this schedule. This will begin on the first day of school with September 3 marked as Day A. The days will be named A through F and will be communicated weekly.
