Upcoming Events in Asylum Hill

South Marshall Street Block Party, Tuesday August 22, 4:30-6:30pm., South Marshall Street . The street will be closed, please find alternate parking. There will be food, music, sidewalk chalk painting, children's games, information and services for parents.

AHNA Job and Career Readiness Fair, Thursday September 28th from 2pm to 5pm at the CT Center for Primary Care Innovation (CCPCI) at 260 Ashley St., on the St. Francis hospital campus. There will be companies interviewing and hiring on site. Support services such as resume writing, interview skills and networking workshops will be available during the Job Fair and before the Fair (stay tuned for more details about these free workshops). Free head shots for resumes will be available. Refreshments will be provided.

AHNA Green Energy Family Festival  in Sigourney Square Park, Saturday October 14, 11am to 3pm (rain date Oct. 21)There will be many exhibits promoting solar energy, energy efficiency, hydroponic gardens, AHNA, PACE,IREJN, Knox, Asylum Hill Congregational, etc. Water and free apples will be provided, and there will be flower planting and story time and art activities for the children. Refreshments will be served. 

AHNA 25th Anniversary GALA, Wednesday June October 18th from 5:30pm-8pm at the Mark Twain House & Museum. There will be food, music, and awards.

The Mark, Twain, House and Museum and Harriet Beecher Stowe Center collaborated with AHNA on June 10 to host the first annual Nook Farm Neighborhood Party. With more than 300 people attending, children and adults enjoyed snow cones, half-price tours to Stowe Center and the Mark Twain house, and old timey lawn games, such as croquet and Stick and Hoop...

CHA and DPH Recognize Saint Francis Hospital with the 2023 Connecticut’s Hospital Community Service Award.

The Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) and the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) have awarded Saint Francis Hospital the 2023 Connecticut’s Hospital Community Service Award in recognition of their Hospital Violence Intervention Program (HVIP). The annual award, presented jointly by CHA and DPH, recognizes a Connecticut hospital or healthcare system that has made an outstanding contribution to its community...

There was a constitutional amendment question on the ballot on Election Day last November that allowed voters to decide if the state should consider implementing an early voting system.

With voters overwhelmingly approving the question, the legislature passed an early voting process for Connecticut beginning in 2024. This new law modernizes voting and allows for more convenience and fairness, reflecting the realities of hectic modern-day life by increasing access to the ballot box for everyone.

Voters will now be able to cast their ballots in person up to 14 days ahead of Election Day, up to seven days in advance of state and local party primaries, and up to four days before special elections as well as presidential primaries...
