AHNA Job and Career Readiness Fair, Thursday September 28th from 2pm to 5pm at the CT Center for Primary Care Innovation (CCPCI) at 260 Ashley St., on the St. Francis hospital campus. There will be companies interviewing and hiring on site. Support services such as resume writing, interview skills and networking workshops will be available during the Job Fair and before the Fair. People can attend one, two or all three of these FREE workshops.

Sept. 7th at 2pm: Resume-Building
Sept. 14th at 2pm: Interviewing Skills
Sept. 21st at 2pm: Networking Successfully

AHNA Green Energy Family Festival  in Sigourney Square Park, Saturday October 14, 11am to 3pm (rain date Oct. 21)There will be many exhibits promoting solar energy, energy efficiency, hydroponic gardens, AHNA, PACE,IREJN, Knox, Asylum Hill Congregational, etc. Water and free apples will be provided, and there will be flower planting and story time and art activities for the children. Refreshments will be served. 

AHNA 25th Anniversary GALA, Wednesday October 18th from 5:30pm-8pm at the Mark Twain House & Museum. Join us as we celebrate 25 years of creating partnerships to improve the quality of life in Asylum hill. There will be food, music, and awards. Tickets $25.

The 19th Annual South Marshall Street Block Party was a great success, drawing many families and people to the Back-to-School festival. AHNA estimates more than 400 people attended to partake in the food, free ice cream, music, and bouncy house. Nearly 200 backpacks with school supplies were handed out to families. Children were greeted by Chompers of the Hartford Yard Goats and Anne Chuberley’s Giant Puppets...

New level of care to help youth stabilize and quickly connect to resources

Children and adolescents who are experiencing a mental health crisis can now receive the vital and immediate support needed to stabilize and begin healing at The Village for Families & Children’s new, walk-in mental health Urgent Crisis Center (UCC) in Hartford. Recognizing that the City of Hartford's sole ownership of the Batterson Park property is not the best path forward, state legislators and mayors recently discussed the possibility of a new state park at Batterson, located in Farmington and New Britain.

The park is in rough shape. In fact, it is dangerous in its present state. Batterson has been closed to the public since 2015, and it has deteriorated from its glory days in the 1960s to an eyesore today. The buildings have decayed, the grounds are overgrown, and the roads have crumbled.

Although we have $10 million at the ready and can envision the park's renaissance, it will take more time and planning...

The Green Committee of the Asylum Hill Neighborhood Association (AHNA) has six goals in Asylum Hill’s Strategic Plan, one of which is to support more pollinator gardens in our neighborhood to help our pollinator species, like bees and butterflies to thrive in our neighborhood. Asylum Hill is now recognized as part of the Northeast Pollinator Pathway (https://www.pollinator-pathway.org/towns/hartford) supporting migrating species such as the Monarch butterfly.
