Happy Fourth of July!
While the Fourth of July is traditionally celebrated with festivities of all sorts, the ongoing pandemic has put a halt to many gatherings, both here in Wilton and across the country. But if you, like us, are still in search of ways to enjoy America's big day, today we offer you some American History nonfiction, Small Town Romance reads, an alternative to live fireworks and Zoom programs to keep you connected. Enjoy and make the most of your Fourth of July, At Home with Wilton Library.
We Appreciate You!
Our love for each other is mutual. Wilton Library is here for you, and the community is here for us too! Thank you to the 1,180 people who donated to Wilton Library this fiscal year. We are not a public municipal library and rely upon donations for all programs, services and collection materials. The funds collected this fiscal year directly support those needs. Thank you for showing us the love!
This Fourth of July, change is in the air. To create change, first we need a clear understanding of where we’ve come from and how we got here. Get started with this selection of American History eAudiobooks . They may be downloaded in the Libby by OverDrive app or viewed online on our OverDrive page.
Fourth of July Fireworks, Re-imagined
Watch NBC-TV, July 4 @8-10pm
We are all missing Wilton's Fourth of July fireworks celebration this year. Staying home, wearing masks and practicing social distancing now will help get next year's show back on track. In the meantime, Macy's Fireworks have been re-imagined for 2020, with smaller displays happening throughout NYC this past week. The Macy's celebration will culminate with a grand finale on July 4th at the Empire State Building. The event will be televised on NBC on July 4 from 8-10pm and will include footage from the previous nights' displays, music and tributes to healthcare heroes and essential workers. More info
Escape your troubles by moving to a small town…you may end up meeting a stranger who will change your life! Now, we all know this is probably not going to happen, but nonetheless, it makes for some light, fun, summer reading. These Small Town Romance eBooks may be downloaded in the Libby by OverDrive app or viewed online on our OverDrive page .
