Tricks, Treats and Presidents
With the tricks and treats of election time continuing and Halloween finally falling on a Saturday, it's a big week for all ages. After you vote, we invite you to get out and read. On offer this week are books and audiobooks written by or about former presidents. On a more haunting note, we dare you to download some spooky music or indulge in a spine-chilling tale. We've also got a Wilton Reads virtual program, a new Dante series, a remote learning seminar, virtual book club and more. No tricks, just treats -- so explore Wilton Library virtually, at the Drive-Thru, or in-person by appointment.
Presidential Books & Audiobooks
There’s nothing like a big juicy presidential biography or autobiography when you’re looking for guidance about history’s long and hard lessons. We’ve selected some of our favorites by and about presidents from the past few decades -- books written by former presidents and audiobooks about former presidents. Take a read or have a listen to these suggestions.

Wilton Reads - Jazz, Classical Music, and the 'Third Stream' with Gil Harel
Thursday, November 5 @5pm via ZOOM REGISTER HERE
It is occasionally supposed that "jazz" and "classical music" are genres that bear little in common. And yet, jazz musicians have historically found inspiration in the classical world, and many traditional western art music composers were in turn deeply influenced by the sounds of jazz. During this online program, Professor Gil Harel will discuss the cross-pollination that occurred between these idioms in the early 20th century, casting a spotlight on composers ranging from Paul Whiteman to George Gershwin, Igor Stravinsky, Leonard Bernstein, and Dave Brubeck's mentor Darius Milhaud. REGISTER HERE to receive the invitation link to the Zoom session.
