U is for Uniform. Eleanor Roosevelt wore this winter weight Red Cross uniform during her 25,000 mile tour of the South Pacific in August-September 1943 as a representative of the American Red Cross.

Arguably the most important presidential election in history, 1940 saw the return of FDR to office for an unprecedented third term. If Wendell Willkie had been elected and Roosevelt defeated the outcome of World War II might have been very different.
