This evening we will welcome our special guest Rabbi Ed Rosenthal to share his insight of Torah along with Rabbi Barry. We are most fortunate to have Rabbi Rosenthal as guest, who lives Tikkun Olam and is trying to save and maintain the Earth's oceans from pollution (he is called "Rabbi of the Reef"). You can read a recent article about our special guest rabbi by clicking here, and I promise, once you have read this, you will not want to miss this Tuesday Evening Torah Discussion!
This week offers us the third portion of the final book of the Torah, Deuteronomy, called Ekev. We look forward to your joining us as we gain insight and inspiration from engaging with words of Torah.
ALL are welcome to participate and partake in an evening of learning and educating ourselves on the relevance of Torah from back-in-the-day, to today and into tomorrow.

A Message from Rabbi Barry Silver
an update about the lawsuit for Religious Freedom and Women's and Abortion Rights
"We are excited to announce that we are in the process of expanding our litigation to add more plaintiffs to Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor, including a Buddhist, Unitarian ministers, an abortion doctor, a woman of child-bearing years, and the renowned social justice icon, Rabbi Arthur Waskow, who leads the Shalom Center. We are also adding additional causes of action to strengthen our case as we gear up for a hearing which we hope to schedule in the near future." - Rabbi Barry Silver

FROM SWASTIKA TO JIM CROW
Sunday, AUGUST 28 at 4:00 pm ET
Tickets by donation ($18 suggested minimum); registration required
This film-and-discussion program tells the little known story of German Jewish professors who, expelled from their homeland by the Nazis, found new lives and careers at all-black colleges and universities in the segregated American South. While most of these pairings between Jewish refugees and black colleges began as marriages of convenience, very often they blossomed into love matches that lasted a lifetime.

Virtual event; $25 per household, RSVP required
Join us for special champagne and dessert reception at the Armory Art Center to view this fine art exhibition of original paintings and drawings by artist Mark L. Cohen, based on photos of the Holocaust. This exhibition and educational initiative was made possible by National Endowment for the Arts, Culture Builds Florida, and South Arts.
Locked away in a crate for several decades until its recent public unveiling, a grave marker in Memphis revealed a little-known fact about one of America’s most iconic figures of the 20th century. Elvis Presley, the King of Rock & Roll, had Jewish roots.
In this highly virtual visual presentation, travel writer Dan Fellner will take you to Elvis’ birthplace in Mississippi and to the Graceland mansion in Memphis, to uncover the secrets of Elvis’ surprising connection to Judaism. Mark the 45th anniversary of Elvis’ death with this fascinating glimpse into his life and the multiculturalism that inspired his music.

We welcome you all to join us at The Mariposa, 9130 Hypoluxo Road, Lake Worth (the SW corner of Hypoluxo and Lyons Roads, just west of the Florida Turnpike overpass) for our LAST TWO SHABBATS in this location (August 19th and August 26th).
The management of The Mariposa has determined that they do not have adequate space for the additional guests from the outside in their auditorium. We have truly enjoyed holding our Sabbath services there, and the residents and guests that have attended have been so supportive, friendly and loving. We will certainly miss those residents who have attended on a regular basis and have come to be a part of the L'Dor Va-Dor family.
We hope that the guests and members that have attended there (AND those who may not have) will join us as we return to The Carlisle Palm Beach at 450 East Ocean Avenue, Lantana, beginning with the Shabbat of September 2, 2022 at 7:00 pm ET (half hour earlier!). The Carlisle is located east of the Intracoastal waterway and bridge and just west of A1A. East Ocean Avenue is between Hypoluxo Road and Lantana Road off US 1, Dixie Highway. We will continue to offer exciting Shabbat services, filled with music, joy, and inspiring words and songs! We will offer our LIVE services and virtually for those who are unable to attend. We understand that The Carlisle may be a bit further away, but it is a very nice and safe location and they have invited us to return which is very exciting as well. We hope to see you ALL very soon!
If you know of a location that would be better suited for L'Dor Va-Dor, or an organization that may be willing to share space, please let us know as soon as you can, through email to INFO@LDORVADOR.org or by calling 561-968-0688.
