Since 2009, Blessings in a Backpack has provided 23.5 million hunger-free weekends for more than 838,600 kids nationwide! Figure in our dedicated volunteers, partners, and staff, and that equals over 1 million lives impacted by our mission... and counting! There's a good chance that you've been impacted by the work we do too!


Our goal is to distribute, at minimum, 3 million hunger-free weekends (bags of food) to school-aged children during the 2021/22 school year. We invite you to follow along with us as we count our Blessings and aim for our goal. Join us and help feed a hungry child on the weekends! 
Be the Change:

Are YOU ready to 'Be the Change?' Join mombassador Nicki Maher to collect the loose change lying around your house and donate it to Blessings in a Backpack!

$130 feeds one school-aged child on the weekends for an entire school year. It doesn’t matter if you find enough change to feed a child for one year or if you find enough to fund only a few weekends. It all adds up!

Baltimore Orioles’ Trey Mancini goes to bat for kids facing food insecurity


He teamed up with Pepsi Stronger Together—and for every home run that he hit, Pepsi pledged $250 to the Trey Mancini Foundation to benefit Blessings in a Backpack!

The Orioles star, a stage 3 colon cancer survivor, missed the 2020 baseball season due to treatment and recovery. So he was excited to step up to the plate for this year’s Home Run Derby.

Mancini knocked the ball out of the park... 59 times to be exact!

As a result of Manici’s impressive performance at the Home Run Derby and Pepsi’s generous commitment, $14,750 will be donated by the Trey Mancini Foundation to Blessings in a Backpack and help provide over 3,685 hunger-free weekends next school year.

Blessings in a Backpack wants to thank Trey Mancini, The Trey Mancini Foundation, the Baltimore Orioles, and Pepsi—this is a HUGE HOME RUN for the kids!
Good Apples:
Milwaukee Brewers team up with Blessings in a Backpack

The Brewers Community Foundation teamed up with Blessings in a Backpack to pack bags full of ready-to-eat food for kids in the Greater Milwaukee area.

Good sausages
After the Brewers players, coaches, and staff pitched in to pack 1,000 backpacks,  the Johnsonville Famous Racing Sausages—affectionally known as Hot Dog, Bratwurst, Polish, Italian, and Chorizo—assisted in loading the food into cars. Showing that no matter who you are or what you’re made of, you too can play a part in helping Blessings in a Backpack feed kids on the weekends!
Louisville senior living facility hosting to-go picnics...

Everlan of Louisville is calling it's to-go picnics "Summer Fest" and they are held every Friday afternoon in July. Organizers are asking for a donation that will benefit Blessings in a Backpack.
