"Of the three most important things to be eliminated before attaining God-realization -- greed, lust and backbiting -- backbiting is the worst and most disastrous. One can overcome greed, and even lust, though both are very hard to get rid of; but by far the worst, and most difficult habit of all to eliminate, is that of speaking ill of and trying to find faults or flaws in others. And why? Because this particular act or vice incurs the burden of sins or sanskaras of others, which is spiritually very derogatory and reactionary."

Sunday, August 17:
11:00 am - 11:30 am:  Coffee / tea / fellowship
11:30 am - 1:00 pm:   Celebrating Meher:  Mani Irani's Life

Manija Sheriar Irani (December 15, 1918 - August 19, 1996), the younger sister of Meher Baba (1894-1969), was one of his close Mandali, living at his ashram as a full resident disciple from the tender age of 13. After Baba dropped his body, Mani was prominent among those who greeted the waves of pilgrims visiting Meherazad in the immediately subsequent decades.

Mahoo Ghorbani will host this meeting, focusing on stories and recollections of Mani (and including some of Mani's own wonderful writings), in an appreciation of this vivacious sister of the God-Man and of Mani's lifelong celebration of her "God-Brother."  Come join an intimate gathering of readings, stories, and discussion.

Jai Baba!

Sunday, August 24:
11:00 am - 11:30 am:  Coffee / tea / fellowship
11:30 am - 1:00 pm:   Aloba Remembered (Mandali Memories)

Each of Meher Baba's Mandali (resident disciples) was unique. For several decades after Meher Baba "dropped the body" (in 1969), Baba-lovers on pilgrimage to Meherabad and Meherazad enjoyed the privilege of meeting, chatting, and enjoying the company of Meher Baba's several then-living Mandali.  And Aloba was quite memorable!

In this intimate, informal program, Behnaz Partovi will lead a group discussion, reading, and remembrance focused on Aloba, a great devotee and beloved disciple of Avatar Meher Baba.

Ali Akbar Shapurzam (1916-2002), renamed "Aloba" by Meher Baba, was born in Iran (in Yezd, Baba's ancestral home). In 1927, he was enrolled in Baba's newly formed Hazrat Babajan school at Meherabad, which existed for a brief period. Seven years later, overcome by longing for Baba's contact, Aloba slipped away from Bombay to Nasik to meet Baba again. He continued to visit Baba until 1949, when he and 21 other men joined Baba on his "New Life." Six months later Aloba was sent home with others, but after two years Baba called Aloba to live with him permanently as one of his resident disciples.

I have come to remind all people that they should live on Earth as the children of one Father until my grace awakens them to the realization that they are all one without a second, and that all divisions and conflict and hatred are but a shadow-play of their own ignorance.
