Summer is one of the busiest times of the year for Delaware Sea Grant (DESG) and this year is no exception as we will be active in many communities throughout Delaware from the Coastal Resilience Design Studio conducting work in Milton, the new oyster aquaculture facility in Lewes, the Waterways Infrastructure and Investment Network (WIIN) work with the communities of Milford and Slaughter Beach, our upcoming horseshoe crab spawning surveys at Big Stone Beach, the return of the Frederica Farmers Market, in addition to lots of other work around Delaware. Summer is a great time to spread the word about DESG throughout the state and I can’t wait to see how all of these projects turn out!
We are so pleased to welcome Dr. Emily Maung-Douglass to DESG as the new Urban Watershed Specialist! Emily brings a great deal of experience to the position having been the Oil Spill Science Outreach Specialist with the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program. In addition, we will also welcome Emily Rodden as a Resilient Urban Ecosystems Research Associate. Emily will start on April 1st for a 1-year limited term position. Their focus for the coming months is on making connections in Wilmington and learning how DESG can best provide guidance for coastal concerns in the community. We are delighted to have them join the DESG team!
Below are some of the recent highlights from Delaware Sea Grant. As always, we are grateful for all of our invaluable partnerships with students, faculty, scientists and our statewide community.
Best wishes,
