At the Heart of Gold to Air on HBO

The latest documentary from The Foundation for Global Sports Development and Sidewinder Films , At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal, will air on HBO Friday, May 3 at 8:00 PM PT.

Viewers will be able to stream the film on HBO GO and HBO NOW on 5:00 PM PT the same day, and it will be available On Demand Saturday, May 4.

Featuring exclusive interviews with the survivors at the center of the story, the film delves into the sports culture that allowed a predator like Larry Nassar to abuse hundreds of young women over a span of decades. This is a story that must be told, must be shared, and must be seen.

A Moving Debut at Tribeca
At The Heart of Gold had its premiere April 26th at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. It was an unbelievable night and the culmination of years of research, work, and advocacy.

We were so proud to bring this important story to audiences, surrounded by so many of the brave survivors and allies who lived through it.

ATHOG in the News
Following the Tribeca debut and in the lead up to its television premiere on HBO , At the Heart of Gold has been all over the news as reviews of the film, stories about its production, and interviews with the filmmakers keep pouring in.

On MSNBC , director Erin Lee Carr spoke about the difficulty of taking on such a difficult subject, while producers Dr. Steven Ungerleider and David Ulich appeared on Cheddar Business to talk about the journey of bringing this story to screens. Los Angeles Times wrote about the impact of the film, while Vogue covered its "poignant premiere."

Courage First Program Launch Coming Soon
Following the airing of At the Heart of Gold , The Foundation for Global Sports Development intends to continue its efforts to prevent sexual abuse in sport by launching Courage First .

Named for the bravery shown by survivors who have spoken out against their abusers, and working directly with a number of them, Courage First is an educational program that will provide both youth and adults training and information regarding personal safety, boundaries, and how to respond when a friend or teammate discloses abuse.

Working closely with a number of abuse prevention and child safety organizations, the program will offer training courses and helpful resources, including video messages from Sister Survivors and public figures such as Kristen Bell. It will also host public screenings of At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal at theaters and university campuses across the country.
