TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE

Honoring Transgender Day of Remembrance

Transgender Day of Remembrance is commemorated each year on November 20, and is a day to honor the transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming persons who are targeted and killed for living authentically and courageously. Visit our commemorative altar in the Makerspace today through Sunday, November 24, which honors these individuals tragically lost to violence. Visit the County of San Mateo LGBTQIA+ Commission's Transgender Day of Remembrance page for resources and tools to move from being an "ally" to "advocate."

NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION

In the last five years, the Redwood City Library Foundation has raised over $1 million to support library initiatives, including Makerspace, Bridging the Digital Divide, and Career Online High School. The need is even greater now in the face of local, state and federal government budget cutbacks to other library initiatives that were previously funded. Which is why we need donors like Jeanie Lundell!

Jeanie has been a library volunteer for more than 10 years, pulling books on hold from the shelves, and has been an RCLF donor since 2016. Last year she decided to give monthly because “I’ve been involved with nonprofits and I know it’s nice for an organization to know they will get that amount every month.”

Consider following Jeanie’s lead and becoming a monthly donor. New recurring donors get a free jar of Library honey!!

CITY CORNER

Redwood City & San Mateo County Toy Drive

Santa is gearing up to spread joy by delivering toys through the annual Redwood City & San Mateo County Toy & Book Drive. Last year, over 132 local businesses filled 161 donation barrels with toys. In return, these toys were provided to over 800 families that needed assistance.

Families wishing to be added to the Christmas Toy and Book Drive can sign up now through December 4 (no sign-ups November 27-29). All sign-ups must be done in person at the Fair Oaks Community Center at 2600 Middlefield Road, Redwood City. Questions? Call 650-780-7500 for assistance. More information
