Athletic Booster Club President Welcome
Welcome to another great year of Ballard High School Athletics! My husband, Mike and I have two Beaver athletes, a senior and a sophomore, and I am honored and really excited to serve as the new President of the Ballard Athletic Booster Club (ABC) Board. ABC is a nonprofit organization of volunteers working together to support, promote and advocate for all Ballard High School athletes. And all parents/guardians of Ballard athletes are members, so for many of you, welcome to the Club!
Quality athletic programs enrich the educational experience, help keep our kids away from screens and moving around, and they help build important lifelong habits and values of wellness, teamwork, discipline, resilience and leadership. Sports also give kids a broader sense of community and they are fun for all of us!
Unfortunately, Seattle Public Schools provides only a fraction of the funds necessary to support quality athletic programs. The Booster Club and the BHS Foundation provide additional support through programs that benefit all BHS athletes, promote school-wide community and help remove barriers to play.
We would love to have you involved and would deeply appreciate your support. Please donate to ABC, support your own athlete’s team(s), buy Beaver Gear and above all, please come out and support our Ballard athletes! We are continuing to raise funds to support our Strength & Conditioning program, our Athletic Trainer, a small grant program for teams and a small scholarship program for student athletes, among other investments.
I hope to see you at the Breakfast of Champions on October 7 (tickets) which is focused on “Empowering Women Through Sports” and will raise funds for mental health resources for Ballard students. The mental health of our student athletes is a priority focus of the Boosters in partnership with the Foundation and BHS school leadership.
Thank you for your support for BHS, our student athletes, our coaches and for all you have done to support your athlete through the years. Go Beavers!

| Breakfast of Champions Coming October 7 | |
Mark your calendars and buy your tickets today for the Ballard High School Foundation and Athletic Booster Club's fundraising Breakfast of Champions event at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7 in the BHS Commons!
A special keynote speaker will focus on how sports participation has inspired and fueled their success off the field. Proceeds from the pancake breakfast will support mental health programs for all students.
The "Empowering Women Through Sports" themed event will celebrate 50+ years of Title IX, and honor our first Woman of Impact, BHS alum Sue Stimac Verduin '78.
Sue is a member of the Seattle Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame (receiving the honor from KING-5's Paul Silvi) and the Seattle University Hall of Fame. She was a varsity letter athlete in tennis and basketball at Ballard, and the first female Beaver athlete to have her jersey retired. Sue is also Seattle University's first female basketball player to earn All-American Honors.
Ticket sales can be directed to your choice of Ballard Athletics sports team, Performing Arts, Cheer, or Dance Team.

Celebrating All Things Ballard, a Success!
The Ballard High School Foundation's Celebrating All Things Ballard Salmon Barbecue and online auction were held recently in support of Ballard Athletics, Performing Arts, Cheer, and Dance Team.
The Foundation raised more than $100,000 in donations at both the online event and August 17 Salmon Barbecue, including $22,580 for this year's funded item, Ballard Strength and Conditioning. (New to BHS? Learn more about this inclusive program, open to all Beaver students @ballardstrength.)
Thank you to the donors, teams, coaches, teachers, families and sponsors who turned out to make this a great community event. Thanks to Athletic Booster Club Community Outreach Chair Beth Sylves, who served as Master of Ceremonies; Auctioneer Stephen Kilbreath; Principal Abby Hunt who welcomed the group; and ASB President and Varsity Soccer and Fastpitch athlete Addy Wynkoop who spoke about the Strength and Conditioning Program. Also, a big thank you to Dick Lee and the Ballard High School Foundation for your continued support of athletics!
