Return to Play Guidelines

Thanks to all of our athletes and coaches who have been following our Return to Play Guidelines during summer training. We know that this has been a huge adjustment for you all but #IWantASeason! As a reminder, all coaches and athletes are required to arrive to all practices and games in a mask. Masks are required to be worn at practices and games by all unless you are actively participating. At the end of practices/games athletes must put their masks back on for "meetings" and to return to their cars. Also, don't forget to bring your own water bottle.

All athletes and parents are required to complete the following links acknowledging that they will follow the established protocols.
OHSAA Physical Information
As a reminder all athletes must have a current physical on file. The OHSAA guidelines state that a physical is good for 13 months from the date the physical is signed by the doctor. This timeline is NOT going to be extended due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Here is the link to the required 2020-2021 physical form

Athletic Training Information

Olivia Jackson returns to Independence High School as our Athletic Trainer for the year. She is nationally certified and Ohio licensed athletic trainer. Olivia is educated and skilled in the services of injury prevention, injury recognition and evaluation, and orthopedic rehabilitation. She will be available to evaluate and treat injured student-athletes, as well as provide injury prevention information. Should an injury occur that requires further medical attention, Olivia can assist in providing priority scheduling with one of our Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine physicians. She can be reached via email at ojackson@independence.k12.oh.us

All High School Athletes must complete the ImPACT baseline test. This year, we will have students take the ImPACT baseline testing at home, in order to minimize the use of shared spaces in the computer labs. The test should be completed by the individual student and no one else. The ImPACT test should be completed in a quiet area with no distractions. Cell phones should not be in the student's area while they are completing the test. It is very important for the student to read all of the attached instructions before beginning the test, as well as all of the instructions given throughout the test. The ImPACT test must be done using a desktop or laptop computer with a hand-held mouse attachment. If you do not have access to a desktop computer or laptop with a hand-held mouse, please contact Olivia via email.
