Homecoming: A Night of Falcon Community Spirit!
Homecoming looked a little different this year! After our scheduled opponent folded its football program on Wednesday night, we were unable to find a replacement on such short notice. But Falcons know how to make the best of any situation!
Instead of a traditional football game, we hosted a Community Flag Football Night featuring our Jr. Falcons elementary students, middle school flag football players, and high school coed flag football games open to anyone who wanted to participate. The evening brought together students, families, and community members for friendly competition, laughter, and plenty of Falcon spirit!
Following the games, we celebrated our Homecoming Court, capping off a memorable evening filled with community pride, family fun, and Falcon fellowship. What could have been a disappointing night turned into a wonderful reminder of what makes our VCS community so special. See the bottom of the newsletter for pictures. Once a Falcon, always a Falcon!

Falcons Battle Deep Fields at the Wildfire Invitational
Falcon XC traveled to Foresthill on October 10 for the Wildfire Invitational, one of the largest regional meets on the schedule, racing against Division 4 & 5 teams over 5,000 meters.
Varsity Girls (5,000m): The Falcons finished 5th out of 10 scoring teams with 127 points, behind Bishop Manogue (50), Westlake Charter (53), Colfax (86) and Churchill County (126). Junior Josie Krulick defended her title and won the race outright in 19:15 for the 2nd year in a row, and also clocked the fastest girls time on the course across all divisions. Sophomore Scarlett Martinez earned a medal, placing 18th in a personal-best 22:18. Freshman Jillian Silva medaled as well, taking 23rd with a PB of 22:48, giving the Falcons three medalists in the top 25. Sophomore Eleanor Carroll placed 66th in a season-best 28:01, junior Diana Zalavarria was 69th with a PB of 28:19, and junior Hazel Campbell rounded out the Falcon finishers.
Varsity Boys (5,000m): The Falcons finished 8th of 14 scoring teams with 203 points, in a deep Division 4-5 field topped by West Campus (46), Bishop Manogue (63) and Lincoln-L (94). Junior Elijah Bates medaled with a season-best in the 5K, running a 17:51 for 12th overall. Junior Gordon Freitas was 28th in a season-best 18:42, just off the medal cutoff, and sophomore Keane Schwarzbach ran a PB of 19:24 for 37th to complete the scoring three. Junior Drew Lindsey (21:41, season best) and senior Eason Kwok (22:05, season best) rounded out the scoring five. Freshmen Alex Solomon and Levin Mejia both ran personal bests of 22:25 as the sixth and seventh Falcons, with freshman William Toms (24:18, PB), freshman Marshall Freitas (25:29, PB) and freshman Frank Villescas (31:18, PB) also racing.
Nearly every Falcon who competed ran a season-best or personal-best time at Wildfire. Falcon XC will take advantage of a two week training block, before they race at the Flat Sac Invitational on October 24 at Gibson Ranch, their last tune-up, before closing out league play at the SDL Championships on the Falcon's home course of Lagoon Valley on October 28.
