AVB Storefront
13 Years ago, Bob and Jan bought Atlanta Vintage Books. Then the recession hit, and against all odds, these 2 amazing people managed to keep the bookstore alive and open. And we're so glad they did! Congratulations to two very special people and the community of books, felines and friends they have created.

Here are a few of our favorite books this month. Enjoy!
Art Work...of Augusta (1894) by Charles Edgeworth Jones. Folio sized. Includes multiple photographic plates of historical landmarks and well as text. Very scarce. We can find no other copy. $750
1970s and 80s Dungeons & Dragons manuals. $45 - $225. Includes the scarce First Edition Deities & Dragons with the Cthulhu Mythos.
Our entire cookbook section has had a makeover with our recent acquisition of more than 400 cookbooks. So many great new recipes to try!
Over the last couple of weeks, we've received an influx of new and collectible esoteric & metaphysical books. Including: Sixth & Seventh Books of Moses, Keys of Solomon, Kybalion, Secrets of Enoch, books by or on Aleister Crowley, Shamanism, Magic, Crystals, Tarot, Astrology, and more. Here are two of our favorites:
Volume 2 of A Complete Illustration fo the Astrological & Occult Sciences (1792) by Ebenezer Sibley. A landmark work in the history of occult and astrological writing. Includes one of the earliest significant astrological studies of the American revolution. The engravings are amazing! $750. RARE!
Signed First Edition, Interpretation of Dreaming, by Carlos Castaneda. Published by Easton Press and bound in beautiful blue genuine leather. $350.

Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

Writers, particularly poets, always feel exiled in some way - people who don't exactly feel at home, so they try to find a home in language.
- Natasha Trethewey

We have to talk about liberating minds as well as liberating society.
- Angela Davis

My alma mater was books, a good library...I could spend the rest of my life reading, just satisfying my curiosity.

we'd like to showcase a few of our favorite African American authors:
The Papers of Martin Luther King, Jr. 7 Volumes, Complete Set. $425
Kindred (1979) by Octavia Butler
First Edition, First Printing. X-Library.
The Fire Next Time (1963) by James Baldwin, 1st/1st, SIGNED, $1000
Just Above My Head (1979) by James Baldwin, 1st/1st, SIGNED, $400
The James Brown Reader (1968) created by Mr. Welvin Stroud's 6th Grade class at the Martin Luther King School in San Francisco. $25

Still one of our favorites. This joyful, whimsical self-published reader has original illustrations and simple sentences..featuring, as one might guess, the Godfather of Soul! Created by a 6th grade class in this 1960s, this is one of their original printings. What a great way to learn to read! We have only a few left, so get one while you can!
Can you dance the James Brown like James Brown? Can you dig it?

Have you ever snapped a photo of one of our cats? Email us the picture, and we might use it in the next newsletter!
Boo + sunshine = the perfect partnership.
Upon learning that the youngest store cat, Sammy, was recently adopted by a loving family, 2 boys delivered coded letters to Bob imploring him not to sell Boo. Don't worry Jamie and John...we wouldn't dream of it!
