Designed, executed and produced by Miller and Schatz

in Berkeley, California.

Signed by both Henry Miller and Bezalel Schatz. Hand marked as #178 of the fewer than 200 copies originally bound in 1947. Miller and Schatz never finished binding them in 1947. This is one of the scarce original finished editions from that time.

Printed totally in serigraph in bright colors, the text is derived from Miller's Black Spring, and is presented in Miller's hand. The pages of text are interleaved with vividly colored images by Bezalal Schatz, which range from small accent pieces to spectacular two page spreads.

Rest In Peace, Little Boo

We had to say goodbye to our sweet Little Boo last month.

She crossed over the rainbow bridge at age 17 after a brief illness.

She lived a happy life until the end and will be missed by all of us!

QUOTABLES

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.

-Albert Camus

Snow was falling,

So much like stars

filling the dark trees

that one could easily imagine

its reason for being was nothing more

than prettiness.

-Mary Oliver

Whose woods these are I think I know

His house is in the village though;

He will not see me stopping here

To watch his woods fill up with snow.

-Robert Frost

My old grandmother always used to say, Summer friends will melt away like summer snows, but winter friends are friends forever.

-George R.R. Martin

Winter kept us warm, covering Earth in forgetful snow.

-T.S. Eliot

I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, ‘Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.'

-Lewis Carroll

I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage,

and tangled Christmas tree lights.

-Maya Angelou
