POWER UP SATURDAY

January 18th

to celebrate

Martin Luther King Jr weekend

POWER UP is among our most cherished acquisitions.

The piece is comprised of four rare serigraphs hand-printed in 1965 by Corita Kent, also known as Sister Mary Corita.

Sister Corita was an important artist with an innovative approach to design and education. Her work juxtaposed spiritual, pop cultural, literary, and political writings alongside symbols of consumer culture and modern life to create bold images and prints during the 1960s.

Read More About Corita Kent Here

In keeping with the social justice themes in Sister Corita's work, we will honor her life on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.

We are asking customers to bring donations of canned goods and pantry items to contribute to Toco Hills Community Alliance, a 501(c)3 non-profit providing emergency food supplies to individuals and families, including those experiencing homelessness.

We will celebrate Sister Corita’s playful and powerful art with

It wasn't until I started reading and found books they wouldn't let us read in school that I discovered you could be insane and happy and have a good life without being like everybody else.

One glance at a book and you hear the voice of another person, perhaps someone dead for 1,000 years. To read is to voyage through time.
