POWER UP-DATE

Our POWER UP framing project is complete!

We are excited to share the news that our POWER UP is now preserved and beautifully framed. Our good friend, High Museum framer Larry Miller, worked with us closely to ensure that every detail was perfectly executed.

We are proud that our store will be home to this important piece of history for many years to come!

POWER UP is comprised of four rare serigraphs hand-printed in 1965 by Corita Kent. Corita, also known as Sister Mary Corita, was an artist with an innovative approach to design and education.

She juxtaposed spiritual, pop cultural, literary, and political writings alongside symbols of consumer culture and modern life in order to create bold images and prints during the 1960s. She was on the cover of Newsweek in 1967 and the subject of hundreds of magazine and newspaper stories.

Her work was acquired by major museums, such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY, and the Museum of Modern Art, NY.

Upcoming Events

Join us on Saturday, December 10th as we officially unveil the newly framed POWER UP.

We will celebrate the playful and powerful art of Corita Kent with a hands-on screen-printing project where you can print your own "Power Up" T-shirt!

Help us spread the powerful message of

love, hope and justice.

Community News

We were excited to contribute last month to the charity auction at Multiverse, the annual Atlanta-based convention for fans of science fiction, fantasy and horror. We donated a collectible 1974 Arkham House First Edition of The Watchers Out of Time and Others, by H.P Lovecraft & August Derleth. The auction raised over $3000 to benefit The Trevor Project, the world's largest organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth.

Books smell good. They look good. You can press it to your bosom. You can carry it in your pocket.

-Ray Bradbury

When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young.

-Maya Angelou

To learn to read is to light a fire; every syllable that is spelled out is a spark.

-Victor Hugo

Picking five favorite books is like picking the five body parts you’d most like not to lose
