Pop Up Theater Set Up with Viewers

Spring is in full bloom and it is a great time to connect with your neighbors through a fun neighborhood event. Getting to know the people around you is an important part of being a good neighbor. Strong relationships help create a happier, healthier community and make the effort worthwhile.

The BEST Neighborhoods team has plenty of ideas and resources to help you hold a fun and inclusive neighborhood block party.

  • The Block Party Trailer has everything you need to host a block party, including plenty of chairs, picnic tables, jumbo yard games and more.
  • Movie nights are a fun way to bring your neighborhood together. You can reserve the Pop-Up Theater kit, which includes a 20-foot inflatable screen, projector, DVD/Blu-ray player and all the cables you need to stream from your phone, tablet or video game console outdoors.
  • Neighborhood potlucks are another simple way to meet neighbors. Invite everyone to bring a dish that is meaningful to them. Sharing a meal can help people connect and build lasting friendships.

All of these ideas can be supplemented with a residential street closure, which allows residents to request part of a residential street be blocked for a neighborhood event between 9 am-10 pm on weekends.

Don’t forget that ALL registered neighborhood organizations are eligible to use the free Block Party program resources to supplement your party plans.
