Attendance Awareness Campaign Update

A project led by Attendance Works

September 12, 2022

Celebrating Attendance,

Raising Awareness!

Spreading the message about good attendance at the start of the school year can get everyone off to a good start. Messaging can help families and students realize that daily attendance is key to reaching their dreams of a successful future. Keep the tone positive, respectful and supportive, whether you are speaking face-to-face or in writing.

School staff and community partners should be able to explain that daily attendance matters, not only for academic success, but because school offers opportunities to build relationships and develop skills such as listening, paying attention, problem-solving and self-regulation, all which are needed to grow and learn. Check out the R.E.A.L. (Routines, Engagement, Access to Resources, and Learning) toolkit to clarify the value of school and tackle any lingering misperceptions.

Absenteeism is a lost opportunity to learn, build relationships and access supports. We can’t afford to think of absenteeism as merely a lack of compliance with school rules. http://bit.ly/1oqfID7 #SchoolEveryDay
