NIH Funds New Consortium Aimed at Advancing Health Equity and Researcher Diversity

The National Institutes of Health recently announced a $50 million award to the University of North Texas Health Science Center to lead the coordinating center for the Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Consortium to Advance Health Equity and Researcher Diversity, or AIM-AHEAD, program.

Dr. Harlan Jones and Dr. Riyaz Basha, professors at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and NRMN mentors received the Health, Education, Awareness and Research in Disparities (HEARD) Scholarship. Both professors are dedicated to mentoring and research. We congratulate them on their awards.

Clarifying NIH's Approach to Granting ESI Extensions

There has been a lot of focus on early stage investigator (ESI) extension requests in the community recently. The FAQ has been revised to allow those who are already on an extension to request an additional extension should circumstances require.
